Welcome to the 5th International Congress of Behavioural Optometry. Since the first Congress in 1990 in Monte Carlo, the Congress has ‘traveled’ around the world twice, with stops in Washington and Versailles in addition to the previous meeting in Sydney in 1994. I hope you are looking forward to a return trip down under, visiting the beauty of Australia again and seeing many old friends, some for the first time in twelve years!
In its history, ICBO has attracted thousands of talented and dedicated optometrists, from more than 25 countries. Many of the leading practitioners worldwide have graced the podium at prior Congresses and this meeting may be the best ever. You will have the opportunity to learn from experts from Europe, Australia and North America.
But perhaps the most memorable element of the International Congress is the interaction with colleagues from around the world. While there are some differences in languages, culture and customs, we find that the similarities are far more common than these minor differences. We are all colleagues in spirit and desire to bring the best to the patients we serve. By interacting with the giants of the field, all who attend contribute to the body of knowledge that is Behavioural Vision Care. The International Congress of Behavioral Optometry is an important vehicle for the exchange of information among friends and associates.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sydney for the 5th International Congress of Behavioural Optometry.
